Penelope and Ouran Review

Posted by: Karla in

Okay so, I didn't want this blog to be just about books so today I'm going to review to different thing. The first being a movie and the second being an anime. These reviews will be short and sweet :) like all my reviews will be. I am not much of a critical person. I either like it or I don’t.

Movie Review: Penelope

Penelope

Plot Summary: “In this modern day romantic tale, Penelope is about a young girl's inspiring journey, a mysterious family secret and the power of love. With all odds against her, in order for Penelope to break the family curse, she must find true love with "one of her own kind"”

Okay so this movie isn't new or anything but I ended up watching it today. I had wanted to see it since it came out in 2006 but I had never gotten the chance.

This movie was great. It was funny and emotional and fantastic. To me it had to do with the fact that id you accept yourself everything else just comes to you or something like that I’m not very good with expressing myself in these kinds of situation.

I laughed, I cried ( but I cry a lot in movies…and books…and manga…and anime…yeah I cry a lot :) ), and I would absolutely recommend this movie.

Show Review: Ouran High School Host Club

Plot Summary: “Haruhi is a poor tomboyish student at a school for the ultra-wealthy, able to attend because of a scholarship, and unable to even afford a uniform. One day, she stumbles across the decidedly peculiar but very popular Ouran Host Club. She tries to leave, but accidentally breaks a vase, and unable to pay for it, she's told that she'll have to stay and do odd jobs. That is, until they decide she would be more valuable as a club member. Not realizing she's female due to her appearance, they fix her up and give her a male uniform. She's an instant hit, so they decide to have her keep up the charade even after they find out the truth. Haruhi, being average almost to a fault, doesn't know what to make of the unconventional activities of the Host Club (or of the even more unconventional members), but having little choice, she plays along. Before long, real bonds are formed, friends made, and Haruhi finds herself accepted in a way she could never have been otherwise in this affluent school.”

Review: If you like anime and you loved Fruits Basket you will absolutely love this show. This show is humorous and it still has deep message. Each character has their own problems and when they come together in the host club they all gain experience and learn and find how to be a better people. Its kind of like they are each others saviors kind of but not as dramatic. I loved this series for its funny/tender moments. You fall in love with all the characters.
