Evergreen Young Adult Book Award 2011 Nominees

Posted by: Karla

So, recently, Tuesday to be exact, our school book club had our last and final meeting of the year. The meeting was about Chris Crucher's Deadline, which was amazing. Our book club reads books nominated for the Evergreen Young Adult Book Award. When the club has read all 10 nominees each member voted for their favorite and the find the winner. At the meeting we found out that the majority of the people who voted at our school, voted for 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher and that the majority of Washington Students voted for.dun dun dun. Unwind by Neal Shusterman. So our school wasn't on the same page as the state, but we were close. Unwind came in second at our school by ONE vote. I did not vote for either, I voted for City of Bones by Cassandra Clare, but to be fair I was being a bit biased since I read the whole series and it was amazing. If I hadn't voted for City of Bones I would have voted for Unwind because it was simply AMAZING too.

At the meeting Mrs. Simpson, the librarian, told us that the new Evergreen Young Adult Book Award 2011 Nominees were already decided but she couldn't tell us because she didn't know them off the top of her head and she didn't have the paper with here. Me, being the reader that I am, really wanted to know the nominees so I looked them up and I found them. So without further ado the Evergreen Young Adult Book Award 2011 Nominees...

In Order:

The Compound by S.A. Bodeen

Lock and Key by Sarah Dessen

Graceling by Kristin Cashore

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman

The Last Exit to Normal by Michael Harmon

I've read only one of those books, The Hunger Games, and I'll probably reread it. I've heard/seen five of those books. I can't wait 'till next school year and vote for the vote. At this moment I'm going to say that I'm cheering for The Hunger Games. :)
