I am so confused. Adrian or Dimitri

Posted by: Karla

Okay so I just finished Spirit Bound and it made me really sad. I love love Adrian. His love for Rose and understanding he is. Sure he has a few problems but so what he tried to fix them for her. I love Dimitri too. He was Rose's first love which means I loved him first too but I can't help but like Adrian better. What make me so sad is thast I fell like I'm Team Jacob. You hope that Bella ends up with him but the books are about Bella&Edwards love. These books have A LOT to do with Rose and Demitri. Mostly what Rose has done in the past two books was because of him. It seems as if there is no other ending but have Dimitri and Rose be together, but I don't want that not really. I want Adrian&Rose. I don't know how that would work out because then what happens to Dimitri. I'm just so confused and I don't have anyone to talk to about this, my friend Sam reads the series but hasn't read Spirit Bound yet, so I thought I would post my thoughts here and see if I could staighted them out. I don't think it helped though because I am still confused. :/ I'll just say these last few word on the topic : I love Adrian. I love Rose. I love Dimitri. I love all the characters (except those that are e-vile). I want them to be happy but I know that no matter who ends up with who someone will get hurt...I just don't want that someone to be Adrian...but Dimitri is awesome too...I'm SO confused. ugh :/

Anyways, do you read the series? What are your thoughts on this topic?

Waiting on Wednesday.

Posted by: Karla in

It should be called Waiting on Thursday. I didn't get to post this yesterday but I still wanted to post my Waiting on Wednesday for this week so here we go. HEADS UP: This is the third book in the series so I don't think people who haven't read the series should read it fore it will have spoilers :). I do recommend reading the series though. Hmm. I'll show you the series first. Howa about that?

The Devouring(The Devouring, #1) by Simon Holt
Summary: When Reggie finds an old journal and reads about the Vours, supernatural creatures who feast on fear and attack on the eve of the winter solstice, she assumes they are just the musings of some lunatic author. But soon, they become a terrifying reality when she begins to suspect that her timid younger brother might be one of their victims.

Risking her life and her sanity, Reggie enters a living nightmare to save the people she loves. Can she devour own her fears before they devour her?

Bone-chilling, terrifying, thrilling...what are you waiting for?

Now this is what I'm waiting for for.

Fearscape(The Devouring, #3) b
y Simon Holt
Summary:The Vours: evil, demonic beings that inhabit human bodies on Sorry Night, the darkest hours of the Winter Solstice. It's been a year since Reggie first discovered the Vours, and the Winter Solstice is approaching once again. It will be another night of unspeakable horror for those unlucky enough to be taken by the Vours, because this time, she won't be able to stop them. The Vours have imprisoned Reggie in a psychiatric hospital, where she is subjected to a daily routine of unfathomably sadistic experiments. Her life is a living Hell, but she won't give up. They attacked her brother. They killed her friend. And Reggie will never stop fighting back.

I am usually not into scary stuff but I love this series. My sister just read the first one and she really like it. I cannot wait to read this one :). I love the covers too.

The Reckoning by Kelley Armstrong Review

Posted by: Karla in

Author: Kelley Armstrong Hardback: 391pgs.
Publisher: April 1st 2010 by HarperCollins

Summary:

My name is Chloe Saunders. I'm fifteen, and I would love to be normal.

But normal is one thing I'm not.

For one thing, I'm having these feelings for a certain antisocial werewolf and his sweet-tempered brother—who just happens to be a sorcerer—but, between you and me, I'm leaning toward the werewolf.

Not normal.

My friends and I are also on the run from an evil corporation that wants to get rid of us—permanently.

Definitely not normal.

And finally, I'm a genetically altered necro-mancer who can raise the dead, rotting corpses and all, without even trying.

As far away from normal as it gets.

My Thoughts: This book picks up right where The Awakening takes off. This book is so gripping. I started it and I couldn't put it down until I finished it. This book is full of action just like the others. The love triangle finally gets resolved in this final installment and when this certain event dealing with this said love triangle happened I just couldn't help but squeel and be uber happy, at the same time though another part that involved said love triangle happened, I cried. To put it easily, I am very happy with how the person she ends up with is, I don't think that will ruin it for anyone, seeing I didn't tell anyone I was team...yeah I am not going to tell you.
In conclusion I can not write to much about this book without spoiling part of it. This was fantastically written, set at a great place, and overall awesome. I read it in one day and kept thinking about it the next day. This book has a lot of mystery/action with just enough romance to keep me and maybe some of you others out there happy. I give the FINAL installment to The Darkest Powers Series five Stars.

Going Too Far by Jennifer Echols Review

Posted by: Karla in

Author: Jennifer Echols Paperback: 256pgs.
Publisher: March 17th 2009 by Pocket Books/MTV Books

Summary:All Meg has ever wanted is to get away. Away from high school. Away from her backwater town. Away from her parents who seem determined to keep her imprisoned in their dead-end lives. But one crazy evening involving a dare and forbidden railroad tracks, she goes way too far... and almost doesn't make it back.
John made a choice to stay. To enforce the rules. To serve and protect. He has nothing but contempt for what he sees as childish rebellion, and he wants to teach Meg a lesson she won't soon forget. But Meg pushes him to the limit by questioning everything he learned at the police academy. And when he pushes back, demanding to know why she won't be tied down, they will drive each other to the edge - and over...

My Thoughts:This book was amazing. It was amazing seeing the relationship grow and become real. These characters each had such grief that they never really got to show or pass or confront that they would never be able to live their lives right. John was never able to let go of what kept him in protecting the bridge. Meg was trying to live her life to the fullest, even though in the process she mught hurt herself or others. These characters push each other to their limits and on,, but allow themselves to finally find away to surpass those things that kept them from being who they could really be.
I heard a lot of great things about this book, and once I got to page 20 or so I just couldn't stop reading. I finished it that night. I would definitely recommend this to anyone. I cannot wait to read Forget You. I wanted to anyway, but now I want to more. I give this a high Five.

Curse You WalMart

Posted by: Karla

So today I went to WalMart to see if perchance they had Spirit Bound. I was thinking not because the only books they usually have are The Vampire Diaries Books, The Twilight Books, The Night World Books, The House of Night Books, The Immortal Series, and some other random books. Today they had way more. The first thing I noticed was that they had The Hunger Game Series, then City of Glass, then all the Vampire Academy Books...1-3. Yeah 1-3. I was not very happy. My mom said she wouldn't buy me it until next week , closer to my birthday but I was still confused. Why only have part of the series?
They also had Revelations and The Van Allen Legacy, but they had Revelations with The Vampire Academy Books so I moved them. I hope they don't get mad. Again, they only had those two in the series. Our WalMart is small, and now confusing since all the moving of stuff since the new additions and stuff.

Radiant Shadows by Melissa Marr Review

Posted by: Karla in

Radiant Shadow (Wicked Lovely #4)
Author: Melissa Marr Hardback: 340pgs.
Publisher: April 20th 2010 by HarperCollins
Source: Library
Author Website/Book Website/Amazon

Summary:Hunger for nourishment.Hunger for touch.Hunger to belong.Half-human and half-faery, Ani is driven by her hungers. Those same appetites also attract powerful enemies and uncertain allies, including Devlin. He was created as an assassin and is brother to the faeries' coolly logical High Queen and to her chaotic twin, the embodiment of War. Devlin wants to keep Ani safe from his sisters, knowing that if he fails, he will be the instrument of Ani's death.Ani isn't one to be guarded while others fight battles for her, though. She has the courage to protect herself and the ability to alter Devlin's plans—and his life. The two are drawn together, each with reason to fear the other and to fear for one another. But as they grow closer, a larger threat imperils the whole of Faerie. Will saving the faery realm mean losing each other?Alluring romance, heart-stopping danger, and sinister intrigue combine in the penultimate volume of Melissa Marr's New York Timesbestselling Wicked Lovely series.

My Thoughts:Like all the other Melissa Marr books, Radiant Shadows did not disappoint. Radiant Shadows revolves around Ani and Devlin. I was a little worried I would not get into this book because I thought it wouldn't have many of the other characters, but it did. I loved the characters. Ani was such a strong person, always longing to be part of the Hunt but never being able to because her father Gabrielle never sees her as one of the Hounds but just as a fragile little pup. Devlin is the High Court Queen's bloodied hands. Being High Court means he can't indulge can't have the emotions others can have because that would be out of order. The only times he is able to induldge and feel free is when Rae posses his body. When Ani is put in danger, she escapes with Devlin.
Throughout the journey Devlin starts to see his true self. The self that has to choose between his loyalty his queen, Sorcha, or be with the first person he has every had these feelings for. At first I didn't know how I was going to respond to Ani, but it didn't take long for me to like her. She is such a strong character and I'm sure many people can relate to her. Always looking and waiting for the acceptance and approval to be what be. One things that I love about this book is the whole aspect of family between the courts. To the Dark Court, though many cower from it, family is very important to it. Ani, Irial, Rabbit, Tish, Rabbit, Gabriel, Niall, and Seth, too, they are all so close, they're family and when something devastating happens the emotion is there. It's there in all of them, and it was overwhelming to me how much each of them felt when that wasn't very common among them.Hounds.Fey.Halflings. I don't think I can explain it well, and I am probably confusing you guys, lets just say it was good.
This book has a great story plot, along with great characters, and a fantastic writing style. One of the things that I loved about this book is the writing. I most of this book out loud because I loved how it sounded and how even if I was just reading it from the book, the emotion was there. It wasn't hard to know how each of these characters felt. The wanting, the longing, the worry, the love, the everything. I recommend reading some of this book out loud even though it might be weird for you. I cannot wait to read the next and, I believe, finale book in the series. I love Melissa Marr's writing and can't wait to see what's to come in the future from her. She has an incredible writing ability and makes it easy to love/hate her characters. This book isn't my favorite in the series but it was still really really good. I thought I would miss Keenan and Ash but this story had great characters and enough emotion and wanting and other things great things going on that I didn't need that little bit of Keenan and Ash and Seth, even though I did appreciate Seth being a part of this story :) ( I LOVE Seth :) ). I give Radiant Shadows 5 Stars. I had given it a 4.5 but then I thought aboout it and dude I really like this book. I kept thinking about something in particular and now I HAVE to read the last one to find out the truth. Goodness. Just as fantastic as the others :)

5 Stars

I am currently reading Radiant Shadows by Melissa Marr and like all the Wicked Lovely books the cover is beautiful so I thought this would be a special Wicked Lovely Uncovered Covers Post. I wish I had found the cover image for Fragile Eternity to complete the series but all these images are beautiful. I think my favorite is for Ink Exchange. The tattoo and wings are so beautiful. I am almost done with Radiant Shadows and I love it so far. Devlin and Ani are fantastic, and Bananach is evil. You can click on the images to get bigger images. Vampire Diaries Season Finale

Posted by: Karla

I just wanted to talk about this because there are only two people I talk to this about and this morning I couldn't talk very long with one of them and then the other didn't watch it last night. Ugh. That was one the best season finales ever. When the whole Damon and Elena thing was happening my sister was saying "Yes Yes Yes", while I was saying" No No NO". I love love love Damon especially because he opened up more and just made my heart all warm inside but I love love love Stephan too. The love he has for Elena is so much and the love he has for Damon even after everything he has done warms my heart and I don't want him to be hurt, but I don't want Damon to be heart either. The scene in the kitchen had me freaking out. My sister was grossed out and I was freaking out and my brother was wierded out by both of us. I am so excited for the upcoming episodes though I don't know when. I can't make myself choose between Damon and Stephan. I think though that Elena really really really loves Stephan and that breaks my heart a little because I know Damon loves her. *sigh*
Also the whole werewolf thing serves that dude right though. I laughed when the mayor said "What are you doing here?" and then Damon says,"I'm a vampire, whats your excuse?" Made me laugh, made me laugh. It was full of greatness and left it with so many things hanging.
Yeah I LOVED it!

ps.I copied and pasted most of this from a comment I made on this post, I didn't want to tire out my fingers again :)

Waiting on Wednesday.

Posted by: Karla

I couldn't make up my mind on one book so I chose three this week and the others next.

There’s a lot Zoey would like to forget. Like how her father has knocked up his twenty-four-year old girlfriend. Like Zoey’s fear that the whole town will find out about her mom’s nervous breakdown. Like darkly handsome bad boy Doug taunting her at school. With her life about to become a complete mess, Zoey fights back the only way she knows how, using her famous attention to detail to make sure she’s the perfect daughter, the perfect student, and the perfect girlfriend to ultra-popular football player Brandon.

But then Zoey is in a car crash, and the next day there’s one thing she can’t remember at all—the entire night before. Did she go parking with Brandon, like she planned? And if so, why does it seem like Brandon is avoiding her? And why is Doug—of all people—suddenly acting as if something significant happened between the two of them? Zoey dimly remembers Doug pulling her from the wreck, but he keeps referring to what happened that night as if it was more, and it terrifies Zoey to admit how much is a blank to her. Controlled, meticulous Zoey is quickly losing her grip on the all-important details of her life—a life that seems strangely empty of Brandon, and strangely full of Doug.

Half Summer faery princess, half human, Meghan has never fit in anywhere. Deserted by the Winter prince she thought loved her, she is prisoner to the Winter faery queen. As war looms between Summer and Winter, Meghan knows that the real danger comes from the Iron Fey, iron-bound faeries that only she and her absent prince have seen. But no one believes her. Worse, Meghan's own fey powers have been cut off. She's alone in Faery with only her wits for help. Trusting anyone would be foolish. Trusting a seeming traitor could be deadly. But even as she grows a backbone of iron, Meghan can't help but hear the whispers of longing in her all-too-human heart.

No Summary Yet...but I love Blue Bloods and this cover is beautiful.

Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs Movie Review

Trailer:

Review:
I am fifteen, soon to be sixteen, but I still get super excited when I find out about a new animated movie. Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs met and went above and beyond my expectations. I couldn't help but laugh. I watch it with my two younger sisters and eighteen year old brother and we were all cracking up. Not only does it have a great message to the story, more than one actually, it is a really heart warming story. The focus on the father-son bonding was really great and pulled on your heart strings. I really enjoyed this movie and I would really recommend it to people of all ages. I give it five out five stars. If I had the money I would probably buy this movie, which I no longer do because I end up watching it once and then not knowing where it is, but I would buy this movie.

The Iron King by Julie Kagawa Review

Posted by: Karla in

The Iron King(Iron Fey, #1)
Author: Julie Kagawa Paperback: 363pgs.
Publisher: February 1st 2010 by Harlequin Teen
Source: Bought from The Book Depository
Author Website/Book Website/Amazon

Summary:Meghan Chase has never fit in at her small-town high school, and now, on the eve of her 16th birthday, she discovers why. When her half brother is kidnapped, Meghan is drawn into a fantastical world she never imagined--the world of Faery, where anything you see may try to eat you, and Meghan is the daughter of the summer faery king. Now she will journey into the depths of Faery to face an unknown enemy . . . and beg the help of a winter prince who might as soon kill her as let her touch his icy heart. The Iron King is the first book in the Iron Fey series.

My Thoughts: I loved this book. I think I was anticipating meeting Puck and Ash because of the whole Team thing so at times I got a little distracting. Oh, I have to mention I'm team Ash :).
The characters in this story were fantastic. Meaghan was a strong and great person, always wanting to help others even though she might get hurt in the process. Though I think she is a little too trusting :). Puck was one of those characters I like. He was funny but he knew when it got serious. Ash was great. His personality is the kind that I love. The silent type who doesn't want people to know what's really inside. I have a problem for falling for those types of guys. The type that ignore the girl and won't talk to her but at the first look or admittance of love he has me and I love him once again. Through out the story you are left thinking what is going on between Puck and Ash and when you find out everything makes sense even though it doesn't make anything better.. The chemistry and pull between the characters was so...gripping, for lack of a better word.
This book had great character, great story/plot, originality, it was funny, it was sweet and had it's aww moments, it had action and suspense, and overall it was a well written and fantastic book. I give it a high five out of five stars. Can't wait to read The Iron Daughter :)

Procrastination

Posted by: Karla

Procrastination. Yeah I have a problem with that :/. For my English class we have to read 3 books each trimester. Three books sounds easy right? I mean I blog about books. The first two books are easy any book you want and you have to do a project. The third book has to be a classic, I am not very fond of classics. This trimester our English teacher decided to shake it up. One book of our choice, one non-fiction(ugh), and one classic. Tomorrow is the due date for the second book, and I haven't read a nonfiction book yet or a classic. I have a nonfiction book right now, on Lady Gaga. Yeah I needed something and my friend had it in her backpack so yeah. Over 250 pages and I have a project to do a project to go with it. I have a problem guys :(.
Don't procrastinate. I know the seniors at my school, including my brother, know that now. A lot of them were rushing to turn in their PAWS assignment to be able to walk at graduation. Sad. I'm sad.

In other news I finished The Iron King by Julie Kagawa and I will do a review on it soon. For right now I'm going to tell you that I am..
.
Made that myself. Should have probably reading and doing my project. I suck.

Until next time.

Speak Your Mind Wednesday - Entry One

Posted by: Karla

I wanted to start this new weekly thing where I kind of sum up my feeling for the day or something that occurred to me throughout the day. I got this idea because I am a person who usually doesn't say anything because I'm afraid of what they'll say/ think. I am not going to go on and start bashing people, I am going to just type what I wanted to say. If you have anything to add go ahead and comment.
Today during lunch one of my guy friends saw a girl and called her pretty. My other kind-of-friend said she was ugly and that is where this idea got started. Right after that my other friend said that she was pretty, I thought she was pretty. The one that said she was ugly said that she wasn't pretty because if she smiled you would want her to close her mouth or something like that. I just was kind of shocked and at the same time not.
This wasn't the first time that this happened. I've sat there several times listening while she would say these horrible things but I don't want to say anything to her face personally. The thing that bothers me the most is that she says it as if she is the most perfect/beautiful person in the world and has the right to judge what people look like. She isn't perfect. She's pretty. I just don't understand how someone can say those kinds of things about someone. Has she or anyone else who does this think about how that person would feel if they went up to their face and told them that? Have they ever thought of doing that. Might as well right? Apparently they don't deserve the respect and should be told these things to make them feel horrible about themselves.
It aggravated me when people don't think of what they are saying. they don;t think about how that person would think/feel if they overheard them or someone told them what people think of them.
My English teacher once told our class that its human nature to classify people or judge them. I think that's true. Its instinct to think these things, but that's where the person comes in. That person has to decide whether or not its okay to think or say this. Everyone is different and everyone is beautiful. No one likes being told horrible things about themselves so why do it to someone else and put those feelings on them.
I have to end this post here. I don;t think I will ever be able to write all my feelings on this subject. I hope you enjoyed Speak Your Mind Wednesday and feel free to speak your mind on this subject in the comments :)

Sing Me to Sleep by Angela Morrison Review

Posted by: Karla in

Sing Me to Sleep
Author: Angela Morrison
Hardback: 301pgs.
Publisher: March 4th 2010 by RazorBill
Source: Bought from The Book Depository

Summary:
THE TRANSFORMATION-Beth has always been “The Beast”—that’s what everyone at school calls her because of her awkward height, facial scars, and thick glasses. Beth’s only friend is geeky, golden-haired Scott. That is, until she’s selected to be her choir’s soprano soloist, and receives the makeover that will change her life forever.

THE LOVE AFFAIR-When Beth’s choir travels to Switzerland, she meets Derek: pale, brooding, totally dreamy. Derek’s untethered passion—for music, and for Beth—leaves her breathless. Because in Derek’s eyes? She’s not The Beast, she’s The Beauty.

THE IMPOSSIBLE CHOICE-When Beth comes home, Scott, her best friend in the world, makes a confession that leaves her completely torn. Should she stand by sweet, steady Scott or follow the dangerous, intense new feelings she has for Derek?

THE HEARTBREAK-The closer Beth gets to Derek, the further away he seems. Then Beth discovers that Derek’s been hiding a dark secret from her …one that could shatter everything.

Review: The relationship between Beth and Derek was one with many hard times and struggles, while still having a great chemistry and passion and love that keeps them together. The relationship at times was questioned by those around them and those they themselves questioning if they are meant to be, like many. At times, Beth kept questioning the relationship, and really I didn't blame her but at the same time I think it was mainly because she wasn't 100% sure of herself. She still saw herself as the beast.
I read many reviews of this book, and many of them questioned the extent that the characters went to to have Beth be "beautiful". Though I do think thy did do a lot, I don't think it was the most drastic thing to do. Many pointed out that this could show girls that to be beautiful and feel good about themselves they had to do these things, but I don't think so. I think this book actually does the opposite. Throughout the book Beth still sees herself as the best and keeps thinking "Why does he love me?" or "He's probably with her, why wouldn't he be ?". It shows more that even all those procedures won't make you feel better, they won't make you better, they won't make you beautiful only you yourself can make yourself beautiful. A couple procedures won't make someone fall in love with you.
I loved all the characters. Each one had their moments when they made me angry and I wanted to yell at them, but that would have gotten me some weird stares. I really liked Beth, the moment she made me angry was when she couldn't seem to see how great of a person she was, how beautiful she was, and how just because Derek doesn't call back it doesn't automatically mean that he's back with his ex. I loved Derek and he only had a couple moments when he made me freak out. i.e. Kitchen Scene after Pasta. Scott seemed to receive a lot of love in the reviews I read, but I just couldn't seem to find a place in my heart for him. I liked him but I didn't love him either.
To wrap this up. I loved the premise, I loved the characters, I loved how it played out, I love Angela Morrison's writing, and can not wait to read more from her, I really enjoyed this book, but there is one point that I didn't like. Near the end and at some points I felt like Beth needed to feel more than she did. I felt like it was to fast near the end. I expected and I was fine with most of it when I was thinking about it but I felt like it was too fast and she didn't feel enough. I have been anticipating it for a while and went in reading it with fear of not liking it from some of the reviews, but I really really enjoyed it and I give it a low 5 Stars, because the last page confused me and made me angry, like I talked about before but the rest of the book made up for it. urgh, that last page. If you've read this already please explain to me because it kind of broke my heart a little.
